C'est le temps...

Déjà 2010!
Ca y est . On commence .
En début d'année nouvelle, c'est le temps opportun de se poser la question suivante:  comment allons-nous jouir de la vie cette année ?
Pour ma part, je sais que  l'année qui vient, je tenterai de mener une vie encore plus passionnante.  L'image du couple qui danse le tango résume parfaitement ce que j'ai envie d'être tout au long de l'année . Harmonie, chaleur, proximité, mélodie ennivrante, ivresse et sentiment de liberté .  C'est ce mélange qui m'habite tout le temps.  Il est vrai... parfois, c'est le temps et l'énergie qui ne sont pas au rendez-vous . Mais, n'est-il pas là un beau défi à se donner pour l'année qui vient ?  S'accorder le temps qu'il faut pour s'assurer que notre vie n'est pas seulement une série de jours routiniers? Qu'il est beau le challenge de faire l'effort nécessaire pour faire en sorte que notre parcours soit parsemé de petits plaisirs .  Changer d'air. Accueillir la nouveauté .  Adopter un visage plus souriant.  Dire oui à la sérénité.  "Eat Pray Love" comme le dit si bien l'auteur Elizabeth Gilbert dans son livre .    Je n'en sais rien pour vous, mais j'étais ô combien contente de dire - va-t-en  à l'année 2009 .   2010 réserve à ma famille et à moi, de belles surprises j'en suis certaine .  De toute façon, ce sera sans doute meilleur que ce que nous a proposé l'année qui vient de s'achever .    Alors, c'est avec optimisme que j'envisage cette année nouvelle.  Allez, je vous souhaite d'être gourmand (e)  et laissez-vous aller.  Think outside of the box .

Afternoon...

The sun was shining.  I was happy to be out on assignement with the station vehicule.  My recorder in hand, I headed first to a high school in the region.  There, I asked a class of grade 12 students what news event stood out for them in the last year ?   The answers were interesting and it was clear that this group of students followed attentively the news as it happened during 2009.
My next stop was at the Elgin Street Mission in Sudbury, a place that has been working with Sudbury's inner city since 1989 .   During my stop there, I was to record Pastor René Soulière for a x-mas promo, something that took no more than a couple of minutes .  As I was walking back to exit the premises,  I passed a long line-up of people waiting for the Mission's soup kitchen to open in order for them to get a hot meal .  Seeing those people in need stopped me in my tracks.   I stood there for a moment and then a young woman came towards me . I said hello and immediately asked her what a place like the Elgin street Mission meant to her ?    I asked her if it was o.k. if I pressed "record" on my machine during our conversation .  She nodded with a yes and then proceeded to tell me that the Mission helped her get off the streets,  helped her get off drugs , helped her get out of prostitution.   It is here that every day , she comes to see her extended family .  The people that come to the Mission to seek help and also the volunteers whom she has come to know very well over the past years .
Following our conversation, I approached a short man with a huge smile .  I could see in his eyes that he had a story to tell .  I was all ears.  He has been coming here for the past 14 years .  Incredible really .  He stressed the point that the people here , are also part of his extended family and that every community should have a place like the Elgin street Mission . Sometimes he says, it's a question of life and death .   Because of this centre, people have a chance to work towards getting a better life .   After our chat was done, three more women came to tell me their stories.    Touched by my afternoon visit at the Mission,  I drove back to the station with a recorder full of heart warming stories .    I'm glad I was the one there to listen , even if I had a microphone in one hand and my recorder in the other.  One thing is for sure... my ears were wide open . 
The people's stories made it to air .  C-fantastique !

Nouveau challenge

J'aime le son du mot "challenge" prononcé à la française .  En bouche, ce mot a bon goût .  Un nouveau challenge. Voilà ce qui m'attend à compter de demain matin .  Comme il est dit dans le film classique " La mélodie du bonheur - The Sound of Music : quand le Seigneur ferme une porte, une autre fenêtre s'ouvre !  Sauf que parfois, la porte se claque derrière vous et si vous êtes chanceux.ses , c'est une magnifique baie vitrée qui s'ouvre à vous .   Telle est la façon que j'ai choisi d'envisager mon nouveau challenge de demain .  Je suis d'attaque .  Je suis "Wonder Woman " ...sans l'épée, ni le petit ensemble sexy bien sûr , mais j'enfilerai les grandes bottes rouges et le bandeau qui me donneront la confiance et la "drive" dont j'ai besoin pour affronter la prochaine étape dans ma carrière en radio .   Un nouveau challenge, C-fantastique parce que ça nous réveille,  comme un espèce de wake-up-call , et fait prendre conscience qu'on est bel et bien vivant et capable d'entreprendre avec succès la prochaine étape dans notre vie .   

Chance Meeting ...

I love it when this happens.  I arrive at my  favorite café this morning and by chance, I come face to face with someone that is there at the perfect time.  It's like the universe knew that engaging in conversation with this person was exactly what I needed at this exact moment !  The conversation was very informative, and I walked away with more self confidence for the work project I am about to tackle in the next coming weeks !  C-fantastique !   There is a reason for everything and  chance meetings like the one I had today really serves a purpose. Whether it be for uplifting ones spirits or sending a message across, I say if it happens, you'd better be listening , 'cause the outcome just might be what you were looking for ! 

not just another day ...

Do you ever hear a little voice inside your head that says once in a while: you are having a perfect day ?   When that happens, C-fantastique don't you think ?   The day is not over and yet, I've just heard that voice in my head.  It started out early morning, waiting with the kids at the end of our drive-way for the big yellow bus to arrive.  And when it did, both kids were smiling and happy to tackle another day at school .  The day continues with my morning news on CBC radio while drinking a cup of orange juice and a rich and creamy cup of coffee.   Having some time on your hands is so precious these days.  This was a morning like that.  At just about 11 am, I arrived at the salon to get my haircut and to my surprise, my wonderful hairdresser is the only one in the salon on Tuesday mornings! The other hairdressers don't come in before noon on Tuesdays !   So, it was just me, my hairdresser and a couple of laughs from our taking turns telling life stories .  When you have the chance to get your hair done, It really does a world of good , C-fantastique!   It's spending a little bit of time on you and hearing that little voice saying:  mmm..mm..mmm girl.. you are so worth it .   Coming home afterwards,  I take the time to call  a friend to touch base and get some news, and after our conversation , I feel like a million bucks because I know that my call made a difference for my friend today .  It was perfect timing .      Next up is something I love to do a couple of times per week . Having lunch with my lovely husband .  For a November day, the sun was particularly warm on the face.  We chose a window seat because the rays of sunshine were just beeming through and we could feel our bodies refuelling on vitamine D !   I don't remember the conversation, but clearly remember the feeling of being with one another, even if it was only for 30 minutes .   It is so nice to take it all in and appreciate the time we have together.    Because the afternoon weather was above normal for this time of year , I knew that I had to get out and play.  So, I booted myself in  my power walking gear and headed out to get my heart rate up .   Listen, I'm not one for power walking every single day , but not doing it on a beautiful day like today makes me feel guilty , so I really had no good excuse to not get it on.   There I was, walking full speed ahead with some cool house music in my ears and the sun shining on my face .  At that moment, the little voice in my head spoke again : you know you're havin' a perfect day honey so keep on walking and don't stop until you get it on!   I have it on , I have it on already ; I replied!   Then and there, I wanted the feeling to never end .  It's a good thing the day is not over.  One thing I am sure of :  there is much more to come. This is not just another day.  Later gators !  Hope you have your perfect day soon .  

This is it!

 Il fallait le voir lors de sa sortie sur grand écran.  Hier soir,  mes deux fils et moi avons vu le film " This is it " , qui présente les dernières répétitions du concert que préparait Michael Jackson pour son retour sur la scène.  Agés de 15 et 13 ans, mes fils ont surtout découvert la musique de Michael Jackson lors de l'annonce de son décès en juin dernier .  Depuis, ils sont devenus fans, comme je l'étais à leur âge dans les années '80.  C'est alors que nous sommes allés en salle de cinéma en tant que fan du "king of pop" .  Le Roi de la pop - voilà un titre qu'il mérite complètement. Suite à l'annonce de sa mort, l'album "Thriller" s'est vendu à plus de 100 millions d'exemplaires à travers le monde.   Le film "This is it" est une réalisation de Kenny Ortega, fidèle collaborateur de Jackson au fil des ans .  Même si la qualité cinéma n'y était pas dans le film, nous avons eu un bel aperçu  de l'ensemble du spectacle qu'il s'apprêtait à présenter à Londres en juillet 2009.  Toutes les chansons populaires de Michael Jackson , chansons qui ont atteint le sommet des palmarès pendant sa longue carrière, faisaient partie du spectacle.  Certaines plus spectaculaires que d'autres puisqu'il y avait du montage vidéo 3D à l'appui (Thriller) ou des décors de scène originaux , plus grands que nature.   Le spectateur a la chance de voir ce qu'aurait été le numéro d'ouverture, un espèce d'immense robot revêtu de lumières qui donne l'impression d'un gros bijoux swavorski dans lequel Michael Jackson aurait sans doute fait son entrée sur scène !  Ensuite, s'enchaînent les grands succès: "Bad", "Smooth Criminal", "Man in the Mirror" , "The Way you make me feel " , " Thriller" , " Beat It"  , " Billy Jean" , " They don't really care about us " , "Human Nature " entres autres,  et à mi-chemin dans le spectacle,  le chanteur rend un bel hommage à ses frères dans un numéro à la "Jackson Five " dans lequel il chante les plus grands succès de la formation .  Pendant l'heure et 58 minutes que dure le film, on se surprend à se demander s'il est vraiment décédé? qu'un artiste de sa stature ne peut pas être déjà mort? Qu'il était tellement content , là, sur la scène à interpréter ses chansons pour ses nombreux fans à travers le monde ?  Dire que Michael Jackson et toute son équipe était presqu'à la veille du départ pour Londres ( à 8 jours ) quand son décès a été annoncé .   Une triste fin pour un artiste qui voulait pour une dernière fois remonter sur la scène et offrir une dernière prestation pour tous ceux et celles qui avaient été des fidèles tout au long de sa carrière.  La vie en a décidé autrement .  Pour tous les fans du Roi de la Pop, "This Is It" en vaut la peine, pour témoigner du grand talent de l'artiste .
